Bookkeeping packages: Starter, Growth and Scale

“From” is the fixed monthly fee for a typical business in that tier. We confirm the exact number after a short look at your volume and complexity. If your volume grows a lot, we talk first, and any change is agreed with you in advance and is usually small.

What each package includes, side by side.

Each package adds to the one before it. One-off work to fix the past sits outside every package.

Flat-rate monthly bookkeeping: what sets your fee.

Two businesses with the same revenue can have very different books. So we look at your volume first, then give you one fixed number.

  • Transaction volume

How many bank, card and payout transactions pass through your books each month.

  • Accounts and sales channels

One bank account and one channel, or several to reconcile, such as Shopify, Amazon and Stripe.

  • Payroll and filings

Whether you have people on payroll, and which payroll, sales-tax and tax filings you need.

  • Inventory and reporting

Stock and cost of goods to track, cash-flow reporting, and CFO support for bigger decisions.

Online and virtual bookkeeping pricing vs hourly billing.

Bookkeeping pricing questions.

How much do bookkeepers charge per month?

Our bookkeeping pricing starts at $150 a month for Starter, $350 for Growth and $650 for Scale. Two businesses with the same revenue can have very different books, so “from” is what a typical business in that tier pays. Your exact fee is fixed once we have seen your volume and complexity, with no hourly billing on top.

Rates across the market vary a lot with scope and billing model. Our cost guide compares them: what other bookkeepers charge.

How can your fees start at $150 a month?

Because of who does the work. Remote Bookkeepers LLC is a US company: your contract, invoices, phone line and cover, Mon-Sat, 9am-5pm EST. The bookkeeping is done by our offshore team, led by our founder, Usama, inside your own QuickBooks Online or Xero. Same work, a lower cost base, and the difference shows in your fee.

Tax return information only goes to a preparer outside the US with your written consent, and you can decline. More detail: who does the work, and where.

Which tier is right for me?

Starter suits a business with one main sales channel and no payroll. Growth suits a business with people on payroll and a tax return to keep on top of. Scale suits a business selling through several channels, with inventory and bigger decisions to make. If you are between two, we will tell you which fits after a short look.

Is catch-up or cleanup extra?

Ongoing work is one flat monthly fee. If your books need catching up or cleaning first, that is quoted separately as a fixed price before we start, so there is no open-ended meter.

Is there a contract, and what if my business grows?

No long lock-in. You can cancel any time, and it takes effect immediately, with no notice period. We would rather earn the next month than trap you into it. Your books stay in your own accounting software, so if you leave, you keep everything.

If your volume grows a lot, we talk first. Any change to your fee is agreed with you in advance and is usually small, so an invoice never comes as a surprise.

Can I get payroll or tax preparation on its own?

Payroll and tax preparation sit on top of monthly bookkeeping, because both depend on reconciled books. That is why they come in Growth and Scale. If you only need one thing, tell us and we will give you a straight answer.

Is a bookkeeper cheaper than hiring in-house?

For most small businesses, yes. A fixed fee from $150 a month carries no salary, payroll taxes, benefits, software seats or training on top. An in-house hire makes more sense when you need someone on site every day, or have enough work for a full-time role.

More on the trade-offs: remote vs in-house bookkeeper.

Are bookkeeping fees tax deductible?

Generally, yes, when the work is for your business. Fees for bookkeeping and accounting help count as ordinary and necessary business expenses. The IRS instructions for Schedule C, for example, tell sole proprietors to include fees charged by accountants that are directly related to operating the business (line 17, legal and professional services).

Where you claim them depends on how your business files, so confirm the details for your own return with your tax preparer. Source: IRS, Instructions for Schedule C (Form 1040).
