Monthly bookkeeping services for small businesses. Reconciled and reported by the 5th.

Our monthly bookkeeping services give small businesses reconciled books every month: we categorize every transaction, reconcile every bank and card account, and send your profit and loss and balance sheet by the 5th. Fixed monthly fees start at $150, and the work happens inside your own QuickBooks Online or Xero.

Part of every plan, from $150/month

Every month
  • Every account reconciled to its statement
  • A profit and loss and balance sheet by the 5th
  • Anything unclear, we ask rather than guess

Real bookkeepers, in your own QuickBooks or Xero

The foundation. What monthly bookkeeping is.

Monthly bookkeeping means your books are brought up to date and proved once a month, so every report and tax return built on them starts from the truth.

Each month we record what happened, tie every balance to its statement and send you reports you can read. Bank feeds and rules do the routine work. A person checks everything the software tends to get wrong.

We work in your own file, wherever it lives. See bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online or Xero bookkeeping for how that works in each. Running an LLC? Start with our guide to bookkeeping for LLCs.

Where it stops. Monthly bookkeeping is not payroll, tax filing or catching up on past months. Those are separate services, and we tell you on day one if you need any of them.

Who it is for

  • Owners doing the books themselves
  • Several bank, card or payment accounts
  • Ecommerce and retail sellers
  • Owners who only see their books at tax time

Probably not the right fit if you need someone working in your office.

What is included every month. And what is not.

No gray areas. If something belongs to another service, it says so here.

Your month with us. Books closed, reports by the 5th.

  1. Transactions come in

Bank, card and payout feeds flow into your QuickBooks or Xero. If a feed is missing, a statement does the job.

  2. We categorize and check

Rules handle the routine. A person checks the rest: transfers between your own accounts, payouts split into sales and fees, loans kept out of income.

  3. A short list of questions

Anything we can't place goes on a short list of questions. We ask. We don't guess.

  4. Reconcile and report

Every account tied to its statement, then your profit and loss and balance sheet, by the 5th of each month.

What we need from you

Small and predictable. You are usually live within a week of the first call. Want every step? See our month-end close checklist.

  • Keep bank and card feeds connected, or send the statements
  • Answer the monthly question list
  • Forward receipts or invoices for anything unusual
  • Tell us about new accounts, loans or big purchases

What lands each month.

Every account reconciled to its statement, then, by the 5th of each month, the reports that tell you where the business stands.

Real bookkeepers, not software

A real bookkeeper from our QuickBooks & Xero certified team, with one named point of contact who knows your file. Not a ticket queue, and not software you have to run yourself. Wondering whether the software could do it alone? Read do you need a bookkeeper if you have QuickBooks?

Outsourced bookkeeping, without losing control

Outsourced does not mean handed over. Your books live in your own QuickBooks Online, Xero or other accounting file, not in a system of ours. You add us as your accountant from your own account, using hello@remotebookkeepersllc.com, and you can remove us any time from your user settings.

  • Your data stays in your own file
  • Access you control

Monthly bookkeeping questions.

What is monthly bookkeeping?

It is keeping your books current and checked once a month, so your profit and loss and balance sheet always rest on reconciled numbers. Done monthly, mistakes stay small and your numbers are never more than a few weeks old.

How often are my accounts reconciled?

Every month, for every bank, credit card and payment account we look after. Each one is tied to its statement before your reports go out by the 5th, so the balances in your books match the balances in the bank.

Does monthly bookkeeping include payroll?

Not on the Starter plan. Payroll processing and payroll-tax filings are part of Growth, from $350/month, together with tax preparation, sales-tax filing and a monthly review call. See our payroll and bookkeeping services.

What do you need from me each month?

Keep your bank and card feeds connected, answer our monthly question list, and forward receipts for anything unusual. Tell us when you open a new account, take a loan or make a big purchase. Our guide to what your bookkeeper needs from you each month has the full list.

Who will do my books? Is it just software?

Real bookkeepers from our QuickBooks & Xero certified team. Software imports and suggests; a person reviews, reconciles and asks the questions. You get one named point of contact who knows your file and replies within one business day.

Software and AI speed up the routine matching, but they cannot tell a loan from a sale or ask you about a payment they cannot place. Our guide on whether QuickBooks or AI can replace a bookkeeper covers that question in full.

How is the monthly fee set?

From $150 a month on Starter. We look at your transaction volume, accounts and complexity, then confirm a fixed monthly fee. If your volume grows a lot, we talk first, and any change is agreed with you in advance and is usually small. No hourly billing and no long-term contract: cancel any time, effective immediately.

What if I’m behind?

We catch up first, quoted as one fixed price before any work starts, then keep the monthly cycle running. See catch-up bookkeeping.

Stop wondering if your books are right.

Two free ways to start. No obligation, no long-term contract.
